In my work there is an emphasis upon precarious balances both physical and emotional. The tension and incipient movement of the compositions suggest change, transformation and the state of being in between. They evoke memories of the experience of various losses and the complex feelings engendered by these losses. The feelings range from searingly painful to serene. The works are paradoxical combinations of these feelings that appear to be extremes. For me, it follows that they are figurative. The juxtaposition and treatment of forms, materials and processes serve this content.
