Biography:
I have been painting for 20 years and for 17 of those I have chosen to work narratively exploring some of the most perplexing issues of the misuse of power in family and personal relationships. This work has taken me through the subjects of emotional and sexual abuse, prejudice, cancer, death and the present work which is about self acceptance and body image. I have been in over 150 group shows and 40 solo shows around the country having work selected by some of the top curators in the museum and gallery profession. Some of these include curators from the Solomon Guggenheim Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Brooklyn Museum in New York, The Wadsworth Athenaeum in Hartford, the Nelson-Atkins and the Kemper Museums in Kansas City, the Contemporary Arts Museum in Houston and Chicago, the Hirshhorn in Washington DC, and the High Museum in Atlanta. I have attended Artist's residencies at the Millay Foundation, the Ucross Foundation, the Ragdale Foundation, and the Virginia Center for Creative Arts.
